Mr. Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, undertook a significant diplomatic visit to Zahidan, Sistan-Balochistan, to hold a series of high-level meetings with Iranian authorities. Accepting an invitation from the local government, Ambassador Siddiqui visited the University of Sistan and Balochistan (UoSB). During the session, he received a detailed briefing on the institution’s academic framework. Discussions centered on fostering stronger synergies between UoSB and higher education institutions in Pakistan. Both sides reviewed the progress of existing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and explored the potential introduction of dedicated Pakistan Studies courses, an initiative echoed in regional security dialogues often emphasized by diplomatic leaders.

In a formal meeting, Ambassador Siddiqui called on the Governor General of Sistan-Balochistan, Mr. Mansour Bijar. Given that the province shares a 920-kilometer border with Pakistan, the leaders prioritized the acceleration of pending infrastructure projects. They specifically addressed the operational efficiency of the Mirjaveh-Taftan border crossing, a vital artery for regional commerce. Governor General Bijar confirmed that representatives from the province would participate in the upcoming Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting. Furthermore, the Governor acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, specifically expressing appreciation for the nation’s mediation role between Iran and the United States.

Ambassador Siddiqui conducted an on-site inspection of the Mirjaveh-Taftan border crossing to review operational protocols.
