Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 17 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Commerce News (CommerceNews.pk) collects, uses, stores and protects information when you visit our website.

Commerce News is a digital media project operating under the Dost Digital Division (3D Meida).

Website: https://commercenews.pk

We respect the privacy of our readers. We do not sell personal data, and we collect only the information reasonably required to operate the website, publish news and respond to inquiries.

Information We Collect

We collect information in three ways:

Information you provide directly — such as your name, email address, phone number, message content and any material you send us through comments, email, WhatsApp, press release submissions, complaints or right-of-reply requests.

Information collected automatically — such as your IP address, browser type and user agent string, device type, operating system, referring website, pages viewed and time spent on the site.

Information from third-party services — such as analytics, advertising and security providers described below.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist with spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you use that service. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public alongside your comment.

Comments may be reviewed through an automated spam detection service.

Media and Uploads

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images containing embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download such images and extract location data from them.

News Tips, Press Releases and Correspondence

If you send us a news tip, press release, article, photograph, video, complaint or right-of-reply request, we retain the message and its attachments for editorial, verification, record-keeping and legal purposes.

Material submitted for publication may be published in whole or in part, subject to editorial policy. Where a sender requests confidentiality, we make reasonable efforts to protect the identity of the source in line with accepted journalistic practice, subject to applicable law.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device to help the website function correctly and to improve your browsing experience.

Comment cookies — If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies so that you do not have to enter these details again. These cookies last for one year.

Login and session cookies — If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie is set to check whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When a registered user logs in, additional cookies store login information and screen display preferences. Login cookies last two days and screen option cookies last one year. Selecting “Remember Me” extends the login for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.

Editing cookies — If a user edits or publishes an article, a further cookie is stored that contains no personal data and records only the post ID of the edited article. It expires after one day.

Preference cookies — The website may store your display preferences, such as light or dark mode, so your chosen settings are retained on your next visit.

Analytics and advertising cookies — These are set by third-party services described below.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect parts of the website’s functionality.

Analytics

We use analytics services, including Google Analytics and Google Search Console (accessed through Google Site Kit), to understand how readers use the website — for example, which pages are read most, how visitors arrive at the site, and general device and location data at country or city level.

This information is used in aggregated and statistical form to improve our content, layout and performance. Details of how Google processes such data are available in Google’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Advertising

This website displays advertising, including advertising served through Google AdSense and its partner networks, as well as direct advertising sold by Dost Marketing Private Limited.

Third-party advertising vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve advertisements based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve advertisements to users based on their visits to our site or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at https://www.aboutads.info/choices.

Commerce News does not control the advertisements served by third-party networks and is not responsible for the privacy practices of advertisers or their partners.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, social media posts and articles from other websites. Embedded content behaves in exactly the same way as if you had visited the other website directly.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Website Security and Performance

We use security and content delivery services to protect the website against spam, abuse, unauthorised access and service disruption. Such services may process technical data, including your IP address, to identify and block malicious traffic.

Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data.

Information may be shared only in the following circumstances:

  • With service providers that operate our website, hosting, email, analytics, security and advertising systems, to the extent required to deliver those services.
  • Where disclosure is required by law, court order or a lawful request from a competent authority in Pakistan.
  • Where necessary to protect our legal rights, prevent fraud or investigate misuse of the website.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How Long We Retain Your Data

Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so that follow-up comments can be recognised and approved automatically instead of being held in a moderation queue.

For registered users, we store the personal information provided in the user profile. Editorial correspondence and submitted material are retained for as long as reasonably required for editorial, archival, legal and record-keeping purposes.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you may request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided.

You may also request that we erase the personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are obliged to retain for administrative, legal, editorial-archive or security purposes.

Registered users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time, except for their username. Website administrators can also view and edit that information.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We aim to respond within 48 hours, where reasonably possible.

Children’s Privacy

This website is intended for a general adult readership covering business, trade and economic affairs. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and the information will be removed.

External Links

Our content may contain links to third-party websites, documents and social media platforms provided for the convenience of readers. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those websites, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any external website you visit.

Data Security

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology or legal requirements. The revised version applies from the date published on this page. Significant changes will be indicated by updating the “Last Updated” date above.
