Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Zafar Iqbal, presided over the ceremony, while Community Welfare Attaché Hamza Tauqeer conducted the proceedings. In his opening remarks, he said the purpose of observing Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir was to condemn India’s unilateral actions in IIOJK and reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Kashmiri people. He reiterated that the Kashmir dispute could only be resolved by granting the people of Jammu and Kashmir their right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The messages strongly condemned India’s decision of August 5, 2019, which revoked the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to extending moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people until they are granted their UN-mandated right to self-determination.

A documentary highlighting the plight of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the alleged human rights violations in the territory was also screened during the event.

The ceremony concluded with refreshments for the participants, while speakers urged the international community to play an effective role in addressing the human rights situation in IIOJK and supporting a peaceful and lasting resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
