China Targets Over 40 Million EV Charging Facilities by 2030

BEIJING: China has announced an ambitious plan to establish a nationwide electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure network by 2030, featuring more than 40 million charging facilities capable of supporting over 110 million electric vehicles across the country.

According to a national plan jointly issued by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the National Energy Administration (NEA), the network will include around 300,000 high-power charging facilities to provide faster and more efficient charging services.

The initiative is aimed at meeting the rapidly growing demand for electric vehicles, strengthening the country’s clean transportation infrastructure, and supporting its long-term green and low-carbon development goals.

Chinese authorities said the expanded charging network would ensure wider nationwide coverage and provide convenient, reliable charging services for EV users, further accelerating the country’s transition to sustainable transportation.
