Integration of Ports with SEZs, Roads, Railways and Warehouses need of the hour: says Iftikhar Ali Malik
LAHORE, August 9: Former President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Iftikhar Ali Malik has called for developing an efficient logistics system by integrating ports with special economic zones, roads, railways and warehouses.
In a statement on Sunday, he said modern ports play a vital role in reducing logistics costs, enhancing export competitiveness and promoting foreign investment. He stressed the need to adopt modern technologies, including automation, artificial intelligence and smart cargo management.
He said Pakistan could leverage its strategic geographic location to emerge as a major trade and transit hub connecting South, Central Asia and the Middle East.
To achieve this objective, he added, the country would need to modernize port infrastructure, digital customs systems and multimodal transport networks.
