Pakistan’s Independence Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm in Kuwait

KUWAIT, Aug 14. Report Muhammad Umar: The 79th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Kuwait, with a large number of members of the Pakistani community attending the ceremony organized at the Embassy of Pakistan.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of women and children, while participants waved national flags and expressed their patriotic spirit. The embassy hall was filled to capacity as Ambassador of Pakistan Dr. Zafar Iqbal hoisted the national flag to the tune of the national anthem.

The ceremony was hosted by Community Welfare Attaché Hamza Tauqeer, who congratulated the participants and the Pakistani community in Kuwait on Independence Day and highlighted the significance of the occasion.

Embassy staff member Hafiz Amir Salman recited verses from the Holy Quran, while First Secretary Abid Ullah read out special messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on the occasion of Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.

A documentary highlighting the celebrations marking the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was also screened. Ambassador Dr. Zafar Iqbal later cut the Independence Day and Quaid-e-Azam anniversary cake along with children.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the inauguration of the Embassy of Pakistan’s digital portal for the Pakistani community. Ambassador Dr. Zafar Iqbal said the new portal would enable Pakistani citizens residing in Kuwait to access various consular and community services from their homes. An Urdu-language option has also been incorporated for the convenience of users.

The ambassador appreciated the efforts of the Community Welfare Wing in developing and launching the digital portal and commended Community Welfare Attaché Hamza Tauqeer and his team for their efforts.

Speaking about Pakistan-Kuwait bilateral relations, Dr. Zafar Iqbal said Pakistan’s exports to Kuwait had witnessed a significant increase despite the prevailing war situation, reflecting the strong economic ties between the two countries.

The ceremony concluded with enthusiastic slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad” led by Ambassador Dr. Zafar Iqbal along with the participants.

A local young singer, arranged by the Pakistan Christian Society Kuwait, performed the national songs “Aye Watan Pyare Watan” and “Dil Dil Pakistan”, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Refreshments were also served to the participants at the conclusion of the ceremony.
