Pakistan Embassy in Ankara Marks 79th Independence Day With Ceremony

ANKARA (special crosspondent) – The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Ankara marked the 79th Independence Anniversary of Pakistan with a solemn and patriotic flag-hoisting ceremony held at the embassy premises at 10:00 AM today. The event served as a focal point for the Pakistani diaspora in Türkiye, Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrated with enthusiasm in Kuwait, and other global missions to commemorate the historic day. The ceremony brought together embassy officials, members of the diplomatic community, and Pakistani expatriates residing across Türkiye.
Ceremony Proceedings and Official Messages

The proceedings commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem of Pakistan as the national flag was ceremoniously hoisted. During the event, Mr. Shaiq Ahmed Bhutto, Deputy Head of Mission, read the official message of the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The message highlighted the historic struggle for freedom, national achievements, and the imperative of maintaining national unity. Subsequently, Counsellor Mr. Ammar Amin delivered the address of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, which underscored the nation’s resilience, its ongoing commitment to socioeconomic development, and a firm resolve to achieve long-term stability.

Ambassador’s Address and Bilateral Relations

In his keynote address to the gathering, H.E. Dr. Yousaf Junaid, Ambassador of Pakistan to Türkiye, elaborated on the profound significance of 14 August for the Pakistani nation. He paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the founding fathers, reaffirming Pakistan’s adherence to the core principles of freedom, justice, and self-determination. Ambassador Junaid further lauded the enduring and fraternal bonds between Pakistan and Türkiye, expressing confidence that the deep-rooted strategic partnership between the two nations would continue to flourish in the coming years. The event concluded with traditional greetings exchanged among the attendees, fostering a sense of national pride and solidarity. Similar to events held at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing which celebrates 79th Independence Day Anniversary 2026, the Ankara chapter reflected the diaspora’s strong connection to their homeland.
