LAHORE (special crosspondent) – Coordinator to Federal Tax Ombudsman Saif ur Rehman stated on Sunday that the success of every nation worldwide relies primarily on its capacity to adopt continuous, systemic change. Addressing a seminar titled “State of Flux,” organized in collaboration with Zia Family Foods Products, he noted that global economies, technologies, and social dynamics are in a constant state of evolution.

Highlighting the importance of institutional strength, he remarked that nations with weak institutions inevitably stagnate and face exclusion from global progress. He asserted that developed societies maintain a state of flux, consistently seeking best practices to advance as time progresses. According to Rehman, human knowledge, cognitive processes, labor patterns, priorities, and income streams are all subject to change. While discussing national development, one must also consider governance frameworks, as bureaucrats are the real rulers; their corruption and incompetence have never been held accountable: Khawaja Asif has often observed in the context of institutional reform.

The Philosophy of Constant Flux

Rehman referenced theological and natural principles to underscore the necessity of adaptation. “The Holy Quran encourages nations to change according to their time. Allah says, ‘Indeed! Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves’ (13:11),” he noted. He further cited the mission of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), who introduced systemic reforms, such as the evolution of Haj practices, to align society with divine objectives.

He described change as the fundamental law of nature, governing everything from the microscopic movement of atoms to the cyclical transitions of seasons. “In philosophy and ecology, this perpetual transformation drives growth, adaptation, and the delicate balance of life,” he said.

Business Resilience and Market Alignment

Focusing on the corporate sector, Saif ur Rehman stated that the most successful global corporations sustain their market leadership for decades by embracing continuous change. He emphasized that survival in the modern era requires businesses to be agile and responsive to shifting market demands. “Adapting to change, being aware of external developments, and striving for internal improvement is the primary business goal to meet market requirements,” he concluded. Just as the private sector must evolve, public policy frameworks like those currently being drafted to overhaul the construction sector are essential for aligning national infrastructure with contemporary economic needs, proving that progress is never a static target.
