Pensioners to Get Free Proof of Life Certificates Through NADRA

ISLAMABAD: NADRA has introduced a free facility for pensioners to obtain Proof of Life certificates.

According to NADRA, pensioners can now obtain their Proof of Life certificates from home through the Pak-ID application. Pensioners who do not use the mobile application can also have a family member obtain the certificate on their behalf.

The facility will also be available free of charge at 5,000 e-Sahulat franchises, 988 NADRA centres and 500 Union Councils across the country. Pensioners will be provided services on a priority basis at NADRA centres and Union Councils.

NADRA will also facilitate pensioners through mobile registration vans, biker services and Main Pack services for obtaining Proof of Life certificates.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defence, Accountant General Pakistan and Military Accountant General, NADRA has established a National Pensioners Register for pensioners.

According to NADRA, the National Pensioners Register will serve as an authentic source for pensioner identification and digital verification of Proof of Life. Authorised banks will be able to directly verify the Proof of Life status of pensioners through the register.

NADRA said that if the death of a pensioner is recorded through the Death Notification Tool or the Civil Registration Management System, the relevant Pension Controller will be notified. Similarly, the relevant authorities will be informed of any changes in the age or marital status of secondary or family pensioners.

The decision to continue, modify or discontinue a pension will rest with the relevant authorised pension authority.

NADRA said the digital verification system would reduce the need for pensioners to appear in person repeatedly and go through lengthy paper-based verification procedures.

The authority said pensioners of other government and private-sector organisations would also be added to the National Pensioners Register in the future.
