LAHORE (special crosspondent) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has departed for China on a four-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral investment and regional cooperation. Chinese Consul General Sun Yian was present at the airport to see off the chief minister.

Official Itinerary and Engagements

Maryam Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to arrive in Urumqi, where senior Chinese officials will receive her at the international airport. Her official engagements are slated to commence at the Kunlun Hall of the Conference Centre at the Xinjiang State Guest House.

During the visit, a high-level delegation led by Xinjiang Party Secretary Chen Xiaojian is set to meet with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The discussions will cover a wide range of topics, including strategic partnerships similar to the efforts seen in broader government-led bilateral engagements. She will also hold a meeting with He Zhongyu, Deputy Party Secretary of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Regional Committee, to discuss matters of mutual interest and various avenues for future cooperation.

Collaborative Discussions

The Punjab chief minister is also scheduled to engage with a delegation of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC) to explore further opportunities for industrial and economic cooperation. In honor of her visit, a formal dinner will be hosted by He Zhongyu, who serves as the Deputy Party Secretary, Party Secretary, and Political Commissar of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Regional Committee, for the Pakistani delegation.

During the duration of her stay, Maryam Nawaz Sharif will be hosted as an official state guest of the Chinese government at the Xinjiang State Guest House.
