ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi conducted an on-site visit to the Diplomatic Enclave on Tuesday to review the status of ongoing infrastructure projects and overall site development. The visit underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing both the security framework and public amenities within this high-priority zone, an initiative that aligns with broader efforts like the Government of Pakistan’s expansion of modern administrative standards.

Infrastructure and Environmental Oversight

During his inspection, the minister evaluated the construction of the boundary wall, the remodeling of existing security checkpoints, and the progress on new recreational infrastructure, including dedicated cycling and walking tracks. Minister Naqvi emphasized the necessity of accelerating construction timelines while strictly adhering to environmental protocols, specifically mandating that no trees be felled during the execution of these civil works.

Modernizing Public Facilities and Security

The interior minister directed the relevant departments to align the development of cycling and walking paths with contemporary urban planning standards. Furthermore, he ordered the widening of roads within the enclave to mitigate traffic congestion and enhance accessibility. Addressing the security apparatus of the zone, the minister instructed the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Security to draft a comprehensive and revised security strategy. This plan is expected to address current security requirements while facilitating the operations of international diplomatic missions.

Restoration and Future Planning

Minister Naqvi also announced a restoration drive for parks located within the Diplomatic Enclave, part of a wider government strategy to provide world-class facilities and improved public spaces. The Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) provided a detailed briefing on project timelines and implementation milestones. The visit was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad and other senior officials, who reviewed the progress of these initiatives alongside the minister to ensure the government’s vision of a well-managed and secure diplomatic zone is realized.
