CPEC can become key driver of Pakistan’s economic recovery and green development: Mian Kashif Ashfaq

LAHORE: Chief Executive Officer of the Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) and Sitara-i-Imtiaz recipient Mian Kashif Ashfaq has said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) offers an important opportunity for Pakistan to revive its economy while advancing its climate change goals, benefiting the country, business community and the people.

While chairing a meeting of the PFC Board of Directors here on Sunday, he said the second phase of CPEC was focusing on green development, technology and innovation, while Pakistan and China would invest in developing high-quality human resources and supporting the green transition.

Mian Kashif Ashfaq said Pakistan needed to develop viable and investment-ready projects to accelerate the green transition under CPEC.

He said Pakistan’s Climate Prosperity Plan offered investment opportunities in several sectors, including energy, green economic zones, electric vehicles, climate-resilient agriculture, the circular economy and environmentally friendly infrastructure.

He said greater alignment between the second phase of CPEC and the Climate Prosperity Plan could provide Pakistan with a significant opportunity to promote economic growth, attract investment and strengthen climate resilience.
