Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Prioritizes Daanish IT Park Tech Transformation

ISLAMABAD (Special Correspondent) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday issued formal directives to relevant authorities to elevate the Daanish IT Park Islamabad into a world-class technology hub. The initiative seeks to establish a center for a modern IT ecosystem by fostering robust collaboration between academic institutions and the industrial sector.

Presiding over a high-level meeting dedicated to the strategic development of the Daanish IT Park Islamabad, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering Pakistani youth with advanced technical skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI), FinTech, and modern software development. He emphasized that the state is focused on creating a conducive environment for IT entrepreneurs to thrive in an increasingly digital global economy.

The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Information Technology to initiate a comprehensive case study of the project to ensure its long-term viability. Furthermore, he directed officials to operationalize the facility through strategic partnerships with international technology corporations, while mandating a rigorous third-party audit to ensure transparency and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.

Boosting Pakistan’s IT Infrastructure

During the briefing, officials presented an overview of the broader strategy aimed at enhancing national IT exports and catalyzing investment within the sector. Recent efforts have already seen 50 private buildings upgraded into functional Software Technology Parks under the supervision of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB). These initiatives complement the existing network of eight incubation centers established nationwide to nurture startups and 105 co-working spaces currently facilitating IT professionals across the country.

As Pakistan continues to emphasize digital growth, leaders have highlighted that the nation must develop local AI models and accelerate their use across all sectors to remain competitive. Participants were briefed that global technology companies are being actively engaged to participate in the operations of the Daanish IT Park Islamabad.

The meeting was attended by key cabinet members, including Federal Ministers Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Musadik Masood Malik, Ahad Khan Cheema, and Attaullah Tarar, along with Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kiyani and various senior government officials.
