Right To Play Pakistan Celebrates Girls’ Football as ‘Goals For Her’ Project Concludes
*ISLAMABAD, October 15, 2026:* Right To Play Pakistan on Thursday marked the conclusion of its *Goals For Her* project with an event in Islamabad, celebrating the achievements of young girls who participated in football clinics across Peshawar, Islamabad and Hunza.

Funded by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), the project organized three football clinics to help girls develop sporting skills, build confidence and experience the benefits of teamwork and leadership through sports.
The closing ceremony brought together participating girls, their families, coaches and representatives of the development sector, civil society and the media. The First Secretary of the High Commission of Canada also attended the event.

On the occasion, Right To Play launched *Goals For Her: Pictorial Journey of the Program*, a photo essay journal documenting the project’s activities and experiences from all three football clinics.
Participants shared their experiences and highlighted the positive impact of sports on their personal development. Maha, one of the participants, said sports helped improve confidence and leadership while creating new opportunities for girls.

Speaking during a panel discussion, Maheen Ishfaq from Islamabad emphasized the importance of teamwork and mutual trust, recalling how participants gradually learned to coordinate with one another during practice sessions.
She said that while individual skills were important, teamwork and trust could make a significant difference in achieving success on the field.

Mehrosh Akhtar from Chitral highlighted the importance of providing girls with equal opportunities to pursue their ambitions. She observed that the difference between girls who were able to follow their dreams and those who could not was often determined not by talent or ambition, but by the opportunities available to them.
Right To Play Pakistan acknowledged the support of the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives and thanked the coaches, families and local communities whose contributions helped make the football clinics possible.

The project underscored the role of sports in promoting girls’ participation, confidence, leadership and collaboration, while creating opportunities for them to engage in activities that may otherwise remain inaccessible.
