Ali Amin Gandapur Arrested; Audio Leak Case Hearing Adjourned Until November 27
*ISLAMABAD, October 17:* Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Amin Gandapur has reportedly been taken into custody by law enforcement agencies. His lawyer informed a district and sessions court in Islamabad during the hearing of an audio leak case registered at Golra Police Station that Gandapur had already been arrested and could not appear before the court.
The case was heard by Additional District and Sessions Judge Hakim Khan Bhakkar. At the outset of the proceedings, Raja Zahoor Advocate appeared on behalf of Gandapur, while co-accused Farooq was also present in court.
During the hearing, defence counsel Raja Zahoor argued that since Gandapur was already in custody, issuing fresh arrest warrants against him would serve no administrative or legal purpose. The lawyer informed the court that Gandapur had intended to appear in compliance with the law but was unable to attend because he had already been arrested.
The recording of witness statements could not proceed due to Gandapur’s unavailability and security-related concerns. Consequently, the court deferred the recording of witness testimony until the next hearing.
After hearing the arguments from both sides, the court adjourned further proceedings in the audio leak case until November 27.
A case against Gandapur was registered at Islamabad’s Golra Police Station in connection with an alleged audio leak. Legal proceedings in the matter are pending before the sessions court.
The information regarding Gandapur’s arrest was conveyed to the court by his lawyer. However, further details, including the agency that took him into custody, the location and time of the arrest, and the specific case in which he was arrested, have not been confirmed. It also remains unclear whether his arrest was connected to the audio leak case or another matter.
