CDA Rejects Stallholders’ Request to Reopen Islamabad’s G-6 and H-9 Weekly Bazaars

*ISLAMABAD:* The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has rejected a request by stallholders to reopen the G-6 and H-9 weekly bazaars, stating that the markets will remain closed until all prescribed safety measures are fully implemented and the required no-objection certificates (NOCs) are obtained.

According to a letter issued by the CDA, the decision to keep both markets closed was taken in light of an inquiry report submitted by the Islamabad Deputy Commissioner.

The authority has made clearance from the Rescue authorities and the Islamabad Deputy Commissioner mandatory for reopening the bazaars. The letter states that stallholders will not be allowed to resume business until all required safety arrangements have been completed and full compliance with the prescribed measures has been ensured.

The letter was issued by Director Municipal Administration Muhammad Tariq Latif on October 19.

Copies of the decision have also been forwarded to the CDA Chairman, Inspector General of Police Islamabad, and the Secretary Interior for information and necessary action.

The G-6 and H-9 weekly bazaars will therefore remain closed for the time being, with their reopening subject to completion of the required safety measures and approval from the relevant authorities.
