Footwear Association Meets Finance Minister on Economic Policy
ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – A delegation from the Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association (PFMA), headed by Mr. S.M. Tanveer, convened with the Minister of State for Finance and Revenue, Mr. Bilal Azhar Kayani, at the Finance Division. The primary agenda was to deliberate on matters pertinent to the industrial sector and the overarching economic policy framework. The delegation underscored the significant economic contributions of the footwear industry, emphasizing its crucial role in manufacturing output, export generation, employment creation, and consistent tax compliance. Views on the Federal Budget 2026-27 were also shared, with a specific focus on strategies designed to bolster industrial growth, elevate national competitiveness, and streamline business operations. The Minister, in turn, acknowledged the vital role of the manufacturing sector in driving economic expansion, boosting exports, and generating employment opportunities. He expressed appreciation for the constructive feedback offered by the PFMA delegation and provided assurance that their proposals and recommendations would receive thorough consideration. Furthermore, Mr. Kayani reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to cultivating a favourable business environment and fostering proactive engagement with all industry stakeholders.
