RIYADH (special crosspondent) – Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman held separate telephone conversations with his counterparts from Türkiye and South Africa on Friday to discuss strengthening military and defence cooperation, regional developments, and efforts to promote international peace and security.

Discussions with Turkish National Defence Minister

During his call with Turkish National Defence Minister Yaşar Güler, Prince Khalid reviewed the current status of bilateral military and defence ties. The discussion focused on exploring strategic avenues to further expand cooperation between the two nations. Furthermore, the ministers evaluated ongoing regional developments and exchanged perspectives on joint initiatives aimed at enhancing regional peace and stability, while also touching upon several pertinent international issues.

Strengthening Defence Cooperation with South Africa

In a separate conversation with South African Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Angelina Motshekga, the Saudi defence minister discussed potential frameworks to deepen defence collaboration between Saudi Arabia and South Africa. Both ministers reviewed current regional challenges and underscored the critical importance of coordinated international efforts to safeguard global peace and security. Such high-level diplomatic engagements remain central to the Kingdom’s international business growth and strategic partnerships, similar to how Pakistan and Kazakhstan establish joint research centre for academic cooperation to foster development.
