*Expansion of Government Policies and Incentives Vital for Growth of Olive Industry: Experts*

*Islamabad (Special Correspondent):* Experts have urged the government to introduce effective policy reforms, expand tax incentives, strengthen quality testing mechanisms, and improve export facilitation measures to promote olive cultivation and the local olive oil industry, enabling Pakistan to fully benefit from the sector’s export potential.

According to a report published by *The Express Tribune*, olive orchards take several years to start yielding production, while achieving full commercial output may require 10 to 15 years. Experts said that investors in this sector have to wait for a long period before receiving returns, therefore olive growers should be provided government support and incentives similar to those available in other industries.

They noted that the olive industry has significant potential to reduce Pakistan’s dependence on imported edible oil and help save valuable foreign exchange.

Industry stakeholders highlighted that Pakistan has growing international demand for high-quality extra virgin olive oil. However, they emphasized the need for internationally recognized certification, traceability systems, modern testing laboratories, and an effective regulatory framework to compete in global markets.

Experts believe that with appropriate government support and policy measures, Pakistan can establish itself as a significant player in the global olive oil market and enhance its agricultural exports.
