Ahsan Iqbal Says Pakistan-Saudi Arabia-Türkiye Defence Pact Promotes Regional Peace

ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal stated that the recent trilateral defence agreement among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye is intended to serve as a vital guarantee for regional peace and security, rather than being directed against any specific nation. Highlighting the broader context of regional stability, he noted that the Business Community Welcomes Pak-Saudi-Turkey Defence Pact as a proactive measure to foster long-term cooperation.

Ensuring Regional Stability Through Strategic Cooperation

Addressing the current geopolitical landscape, the minister remarked that recent global and regional developments have underscored how the shadows of conflict and geopolitical uncertainty have adversely affected not only Pakistan but the entire region. Minister Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that in order to navigate these complex challenges, nations within the region must work in unison to enhance mutual cooperation, thereby ensuring enduring peace and security.

Deepening Historical and Cultural Ties

Reflecting on the nature of the trilateral partnership, the minister observed that Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye share deep-rooted historical, religious, and cultural ties. These enduring bonds, he noted, form the bedrock upon which the new security arrangement is built. He expressed optimism that the trilateral defence agreement would significantly bolster ongoing efforts to promote stability. Furthermore, as Pakistan continues its diplomatic engagement, the government remains focused on broader stability, similar to efforts seen when the State Bank of Pakistan Maintains Benchmark Interest Rate Amid Stability, indicating a synchronized approach to both economic and national security fronts. The minister reiterated that the commitment to regional harmony remains a cornerstone of the country’s foreign policy, echoing sentiments often shared by leadership during international forums, such as when DPM/FM Dar reaffirms Pakistan’s support for ASEAN’s peace, prosperity efforts.
