Federal Cabinet Approves Defence Forces Act 2026 and Amendments to National Command Authority Act 2010

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet, which met in Islamabad on Thursday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, approved the draft Defence Forces Act 2026 and amendments to the National Command Authority Act 2010.

The cabinet approved the draft Defence Forces Act 2026, which has been prepared as a continuation of the amendments introduced through the 27th Constitutional Amendment. The legislation aims to define relevant administrative matters concerning the office of the Chief of Defence Forces and the Chief of Defence Forces Headquarters.

Following cabinet approval, the draft Defence Forces Act 2026 will be presented before Parliament for approval during its ongoing session.

The federal cabinet also approved amendments to the National Command Authority Act 2010, which were deemed necessary following the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

The amended draft of the National Command Authority Act 2010 will also be presented before Parliament for approval.
