Addressing a delegation of farmers in Lahore on October 28, 2026, the chief minister said the Punjab government was taking steps to provide financial assistance to farmers and modernize the province’s agricultural sector.
Maryam Nawaz announced that farmers would be able to obtain agricultural loans through the proposed Farmers’ Bank without interest, with financing of up to Rs10 million, according to the announcement’s headline and initial details.
She said the government had provided agricultural financing worth Rs400 billion to farmers over the past two years through the Kisan Card programme, benefiting approximately one million farmers across Punjab.
The chief minister announced that the financial limit under the Kisan Card scheme had been increased to Rs33,500 per acre to help farmers purchase fertilizers, seeds and other essential agricultural inputs.
She further stated that 25,000 tractors had been provided to farmers as part of the government’s agricultural modernization initiatives. A separate programme was also being implemented to make modern agricultural machinery available to small farmers on a rental basis.
