ISLAMABAD (Special Correspondent) – A delegation from the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (RCCI), led by the newly elected President Nosherwan Khalil Khan, held a high-level meeting with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rawalpindi, Capt. (Retd.) Nadeem Nasir, to address critical infrastructure challenges and advocate for improved business facilitation. The high-profile discussion focused on streamlining regulatory processes and enhancing the economic landscape for local traders, drawing parallels to broader advocacy efforts seen in initiatives like RCCI Delegation Discusses Economic Relief Measures With Hamza Shahbaz Sharif.

Regulatory Reforms and Business Protection

During the proceedings, the RCCI delegation expressed significant appreciation for the Deputy Commissioner’s commitment to establishing a dedicated facilitation desk. A landmark decision was reached wherein no commercial center or retail shop will be sealed without the express prior approval of the Deputy Commissioner, effectively curbing the risk of arbitrary administrative actions. Furthermore, the district administration committed to ensuring the processing and issuance of all mandatory No Objection Certificates (NOCs) within a strict three-day timeframe, signaling a shift toward more transparent and efficient governance.

Infrastructure and Industrial Development

The dialogue also covered the pressing issues currently impacting the Rawat Industrial Estate. The delegation highlighted that the current lack of basic civic infrastructure—specifically regarding sewerage systems, gas supply, water connectivity, and public transport networks—serves as a bottleneck for industrial growth. Similar to the administrative advocacy seen in recent regional reports like LCCI Urges Dialogue Following Tollinton Market Clash With Government Officials, the RCCI members emphasized that robust infrastructure is non-negotiable for fostering a sustainable investment climate. The discussion further encompassed proposals for the development of modern commercial and industrial zones along the upcoming Rawalpindi Ring Road to facilitate future economic expansion.

Collaborative Governance Framework

To ensure long-term cooperation, both parties discussed the formation of a joint committee comprising representatives from the RCCI and the District Administration. This body is intended to provide a permanent platform for the resolution of grievances, preventing harassment under the guise of regulatory compliance. The meeting concluded with President Nosherwan Khalil Khan extending a formal invitation to the Deputy Commissioner to visit the RCCI Chamber House. Capt. (Retd.) Nadeem Nasir accepted the invitation, and both parties agreed to host an interactive session with the wider business community in the near future. The delegation included Senior Vice President Waseem Aslam, Vice President Ikram Abbasi, and former President Raja Amir Iqbal, while the district administration was represented by Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Tayyab Sami Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Social Services Fazail Mudassir, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Enforcement Abdul Rehman Khan.
