Board of Peace Oversees Gaza Peace Deal as Trump Announces Hamas Disarmament and Israeli Withdrawal

WASHINGTON, July 31: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that a Gaza peace agreement has been reached under the supervision of the Board of Peace, providing for the phased disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups, alongside the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.

In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, President Trump said the agreement represents a major step toward achieving lasting peace and stability in Gaza. He described it as a key milestone in his broader peace initiative aimed at ending the conflict and establishing a new governance framework for the Palestinian territory.

According to Trump, the agreement will be implemented in phases. As Hamas and other armed factions surrender their weapons under an internationally supervised mechanism, Israeli forces will gradually withdraw from Gaza. An international stabilization force, working alongside a newly established Palestinian police force, will be responsible for maintaining security and public order.

Trump said the agreement also provides for the establishment of a new Palestinian administration that will oversee civil governance, public services, and reconstruction efforts with international support. He added that Israel’s security concerns have been incorporated into the framework to ensure Gaza is not used for future attacks against Israel.

The U.S. president thanked Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye for their mediation efforts, describing their role in the negotiations as instrumental in achieving the breakthrough. He also praised the work of the negotiating teams and reiterated his commitment to preventing a repeat of the October 7, 2023, attacks.

Hamas also confirmed that an agreement had been reached on a framework covering disarmament and the phased withdrawal of Israeli troops. The group called on the mediating countries to ensure full implementation of all provisions of the agreement and to hold Israel accountable for its commitments.

However, the Israeli government has not yet formally confirmed all aspects of the reported agreement, and some Israeli officials have expressed reservations regarding its implementation and the complete disarmament of Hamas. Analysts say the success of the deal will depend on full compliance by all parties and sustained international oversight.
