CM Punjab Independence Day Cycling Race Held from Lahore to Sahiwal

LAHORE, Aug 14: The Sports Board Punjab organized the CM Punjab Independence Day Lahore-to-Sahiwal Cycling Race and Family Fun Cycling Race as part of the Independence Day celebrations.

Provincial Minister for Sports Punjab Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar formally inaugurated both races at Punjab Stadium, Nishtar Park Sports Complex. Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed, CEO Punjab Olympic Association Idris Haider Khawaja, Secretary Punjab Olympic Association Waqar Ahmed and Muhammad Adil were also present on the occasion.

A total of 70 professional cyclists participated in the CM Punjab Independence Day Cycling Race from Lahore to Sahiwal, while more than 500 cyclists took part in the Family Fun Cycling Race. The provincial minister expressed his best wishes to all participating cyclists.

Speaking to the media, Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said the Lahore-to-Sahiwal cycling race and Family Fun Race had been organized to celebrate Independence Day in a befitting manner. He said the Family Fun Race had further enhanced the joy and excitement of the Independence Day celebrations.

He said cycling races would next be organized across different districts and divisions of Punjab to promote cycling and encourage young people and citizens to participate in healthy sporting activities.

The provincial minister congratulated the entire nation on Independence Day and said Pakistan had been achieved after countless sacrifices. He urged the younger generation never to forget the sacrifices of their elders and to play their role in the country’s development, prosperity and stability.

Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said the national flag was a symbol of Pakistan’s independence, sovereignty and national unity. He also paid tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan Army, police and other law-enforcement agencies who had sacrificed their lives for the protection of the country, saying their sacrifices would always be remembered.
