Deputy PM Dar reviews preparations for 14th South Asian Games
ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review preparations for the 14th South Asian Games.
According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan will host the Games in March 2027.
The Deputy Prime Minister directed the formation of sub-committees to oversee key areas related to the Games, including financial matters, construction and upgradation of infrastructure, training and preparation of athletes, and logistical arrangements.
He stressed the importance of timely planning and close coordination among all stakeholders to ensure that Pakistan hosts the Games to the highest standards.
Senator Ishaq Dar said the 14th South Asian Games would provide Pakistan with an important opportunity to showcase its sporting capabilities, hospitality and administrative capacity to the world.
He said the event could also be used to convey a message of peace, friendship, goodwill and harmony to the international community.
The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Pakistan Olympic Association President Arif Saeed, Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination, Director General Pakistan Sports Board, officials of the Ministry of Finance, and representatives of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments.
