Government Offers Rs98 Billion Incentive Package to Boost Exports: Saif Ur Rehman

LAHORE, Sept 24: Coordinator to the Federal Tax Ombudsman Saif Ur Rehman has said the government has offered an attractive package of incentives to promote exports and strengthen productive capacity, and it is now incumbent upon exporters to deliver tangible and measurable results.
Talking to a delegation of exporters here on Thursday, he said Rs98 billion had been allocated for measures aimed at expanding productive capacity, creating employment and boosting exports.
He said the government had put substantial financial resources behind its export-oriented measures and exporters must now translate this support into measurable increases in export earnings.
“The government has put money on the table and exporters must now deliver measurable dollars,” he remarked.
Saif Ur Rehman said the incentives and financial support reflected the government’s commitment to developing a more competitive and export-oriented economy. Stronger exports, he added, would generate employment, expand industrial activity, improve foreign exchange earnings and provide a sustainable foundation for economic growth.
He urged exporters to make full use of the available incentives, enhance productivity, diversify products and markets, and improve quality and competitiveness to increase Pakistan’s share in international trade.
He said sustained growth in exports remained one of the most effective and durable means for strengthening the country’s external account and reducing dependence on external financing.
