LCCI President Urges Overseas Pakistanis to Invest in Emerging Sectors

LAHORE (special crosspondent) – The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) President, Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol, has formally urged Pakistani businessmen and entrepreneurs based abroad to play a more active role in the country’s economic development by investing in emerging sectors and helping expand the nation’s export and manufacturing base. Addressing the strategic need for such collaboration, industry experts often note that mineral reserves can provide export diversification and employment opportunities, which remain a key focus for attracting foreign capital. He made these remarks while leading a 25-member LCCI business delegation during a visit to ISPAK Plastic in Hagen, Germany, where the delegation was received by Mazhar Iqbal Deona and the company’s management. Acting Consul General Fahad ur Rehman and Trade & Investment Counsellor at the Pakistan Consulate General Frankfurt Amna Naeem, along with Executive Committee Members Asif Khan and Shouban Akhtar, also accompanied the delegation. The LCCI President highlighted the growing opportunities available in Pakistan and briefed the participants on reforms undertaken by the government to improve the ease of doing business, facilitate investors, and create a more conducive environment for both local and foreign investment. Faheem ur Rehman Saigol emphasized that overseas Pakistani businessmen possess valuable capital, technology, international market access, and business expertise, which can contribute significantly to Pakistan’s industrial and economic growth. He appealed to leading Pakistani entrepreneurs abroad to consider Pakistan as a premier investment destination and establish or expand business operations within the country. He specifically highlighted the potential of Electric Vehicles, Information Technology, Renewable Energy, Textiles and Value Addition, Pharmaceuticals, Agriculture and Food Processing, and Mining & Minerals as sectors offering significant opportunities for investment, technology transfer, employment generation, and export growth. The LCCI President noted that stronger investment flows into these sectors would not only create new industrial capacity but also help Pakistan move towards value-added exports, improve productivity, and integrate domestic businesses with international supply chains. During the visit, the delegation discussed bilateral trade and investment opportunities, prospects for industrial cooperation, and ways to further facilitate business engagement between Pakistan and Germany. Mazhar Iqbal Deona pledged full support through the European Business Chamber for promoting foreign direct investment in Pakistan and enhancing the country’s exports and manufacturing capacity. He expressed keen interest in strengthening cooperation between the business communities of Pakistan and Europe. The LCCI delegation emphasized that stronger Pakistan-Germany business engagement, coupled with greater participation by overseas Pakistani investors, could help translate existing opportunities into concrete investment projects and sustainable economic growth.
