Messages received from neighboring countries on new regional security and economic cooperation: Qalibaf
Tehran: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has said that Iran has received several messages from neighboring countries regarding the formation of new regional security arrangements and economic cooperation.
In a statement issued in Tehran, Ghalibaf said the messages discussed the establishment of a new security framework in the region as well as mechanisms for expanding economic cooperation.
Criticizing US policies, he said American intimidation and pressure had also put the security of its allied countries at risk. According to Ghalibaf, the United States had ignored the interests of its allies for the sake of Israel, causing allied countries to feel that their survival and security were under threat.
The Iranian parliamentary speaker said regional countries should rely on mutual cooperation and establish joint regional mechanisms instead of depending on external powers for their security and future.
Ghalibaf maintained that an independent regional system formed by the countries of the region would be capable of providing genuine and sustainable peace, while greater security, political and economic cooperation among regional states could play an important role in promoting stability.
