ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced a 7 percent increase in toll charges on the Islamabad-Lahore M-2 Motorway, augmenting travel expenses on one of Pakistan’s most vital highways. The revised toll rates, effective immediately, will remain in place until April 23, 2027, as detailed in an official notification. This adjustment is being implemented under the existing concession agreement between the NHA and Motorway Operations and Rehabilitation Engineering (MORE), a subsidiary of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO). MORE holds responsibility for the operation, maintenance, rehabilitation, and modernization of the M-2 Motorway.

Under the newly revised tariff structure, the toll for cars, jeeps, and taxis has been set at Rs1,430. For vans, the charge is Rs2,390, while coasters will now pay Rs3,350. Buses face a toll of Rs4,770. Commercial vehicles such as two- and three-axle trucks will be charged Rs6,210, and articulated trucks will incur a toll of Rs7,980.

The NHA stated that this revised toll structure aligns with the applicable concession agreement and is designed to ensure the ongoing maintenance, operation, and enhancement of the motorway infrastructure. The Islamabad-Lahore M-2, Pakistan’s inaugural motorway, functions as a critical transport artery, facilitating the daily movement of thousands of passenger and commercial vehicles. The recent toll increase is anticipated to result in higher travel costs for both individual commuters and commercial transport operators utilizing this significant route.
