No-go areas in LESCO, recovery reaches 101%, overbilling eliminated: Chief Engineer Ramadan Butt

LAHORE: Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) Chief Engineer Ramadan Butt has said that there are currently no no-go areas in LESCO, while the company’s recovery rate has reached 101% and overbilling has been eliminated.

He said LESCO has also started recovering Rs93 billion in outstanding dues that have remained unpaid for the past 10 years.

Chief Engineer Ramadan Butt made these remarks during his visit to the Lahore Press Club, where he was received by Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari, who welcomed the distinguished guest and presented him with flowers.

Talking to the media, Ramadan Butt said elimination of overbilling, achieving 100% recovery and improving the power distribution system were among LESCO’s key priorities, adding that considerable progress had already been made in these areas.

He said LESCO was among the leading power distribution companies in the country and efforts were underway to further improve the organisation’s performance and services for consumers.

The LESCO chief engineer said billions of rupees in outstanding dues had been withheld by major industrial consumers through various means. He said the company had initiated the recovery of Rs93 billion in dues accumulated over the past 10 years.

He further said a complete ban had been imposed on the private repair of transformers. Transformers damaged due to overloading were being replaced to ensure uninterrupted and reliable electricity supply to consumers.

Ramadan Butt said that if electricity remained suspended in any area for more than four to five hours, the concerned officer would be held responsible. Monitoring mechanisms were also being strengthened to reduce prolonged outages and improve service delivery.

He said improving the system, resolving consumer complaints promptly and ensuring better electricity supply remained among LESCO’s major priorities, with further measures being taken to improve the company’s overall performance.

Speaking on the occasion, Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari appreciated the performance of LESCO Chief Engineer Ramadan Butt and congratulated him on the steps being taken to address consumer complaints.

Arshad Ansari expressed hope that Ramadan Butt would continue taking practical measures to resolve electricity-related problems faced by citizens and that his efforts would bring sustained improvement in power supply and consumer services.
