Pakistan Independence Day Celebrated with National Fervour at Embassy in Baku
BAKU, August 14: The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Baku commemorated Pakistan’s Independence Day with national fervour at a ceremony held at the Embassy’s Chancery.
The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the hoisting of the national flag. Messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar were read out on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin paid tribute to the vision and founding principles of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
The ambassador said Pakistan had made significant progress across various sectors through government initiatives and noted that the country commands international respect for its steadfast commitment and efforts for peace in the region and beyond.
Ambassador Qasim Mohiuddin also highlighted the deep-rooted and fraternal relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, describing the bilateral ties as being based on mutual trust, shared values and a common historical and cultural heritage.

Reflecting the strong cultural and people-to-people ties between the two countries, Azerbaijani Urdu scholar Rovshan Shiranxali and Baku State University student Nazrin Shahgeldiyeva delivered speeches in Urdu highlighting the achievements and contributions of the founding fathers of Pakistan.
Their participation and Urdu-language presentations were described as a reflection of the deep affection and cultural bonds between the peoples of Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Pakistani community, dignitaries, academics, students, prominent media representatives and Azerbaijani friends of Pakistan.
The event provided an opportunity for the Pakistani community and their Azerbaijani counterparts to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day and reaffirm the strong bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries.
