Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day Reception Held in Moscow, Pak-Russia Ties Highlighted

MOSCOW: The Embassy of Pakistan in Moscow hosted a reception to mark Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day, attended by around 250 guests, including senior Russian officials, diplomats, academics, media representatives and members of the Pakistani community.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Yuryevich Galuzin attended the reception as the chief guest and conveyed greetings to the people of Pakistan on the occasion of Independence Day.

Ambassador of Pakistan to Russia Faisal Niaz Tirmizi highlighted the positive momentum in bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia, with particular emphasis on expanding cooperation in trade, connectivity, education, tourism and culture.

The ambassador also highlighted Pakistan’s interest in the International North-South Transport Corridor and its efforts to strengthen regional connectivity.

Deputy Foreign Minister Galuzin congratulated the people of Pakistan on Independence Day and appreciated Pakistan’s role in regional and international affairs. He also referred to Islamabad’s mediation efforts during the recent Gulf crisis.

He highlighted the growing bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Russia in trade, connectivity, industry and education, and expressed the hope that cooperation between the two countries would continue to expand.

The reception also featured performances by internationally acclaimed Pakistani band Khumariyaan and renowned violinist Master Raees Khan, recipient of the Presidential Award for Pride of Performance.

The musical performances showcased Pakistan’s rich cultural and musical heritage and added a vibrant Pakistani touch to the Independence Day celebrations in Moscow.
