ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday issued a strong commitment to thwarting any attempts by foreign-sponsored elements to obstruct the development and prosperity of Balochistan, asserting that such efforts will be defeated at all costs. The President’s remarks came during a high-level meeting at the Aiwan-e-Sadr with the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti.

Commitment to Eradicating Terrorism

During the formal meeting, President Zardari expressed his firm conviction that the menace of terrorism, which has historically hindered regional stability, will soon be completely eradicated from Balochistan. The discussions focused on the security landscape of the province, with the leadership aligning on strategies to neutralize hostile actors attempting to sabotage economic progress.

Development and Provincial Coordination

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti provided a comprehensive briefing to the President regarding the current law and order situation, as well as the progress of ongoing development initiatives across the province. In line with the government’s broader economic goals—similar to those discussed in contexts like the FPCCI President’s call for regional economic action—President Zardari emphasized that seamless coordination between federal and provincial authorities is a mandatory prerequisite for maintaining regional peace and ensuring public welfare. The President further remarked that Balochistan, being the largest province by geographical area, warrants prioritized attention and the allocation of adequate resources to bridge the development divide.
