ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – The Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, held a formal meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House on Friday. The engagement follows recent high-level diplomatic activity, including the Malaysian Home Affairs Minister Calls on Field Marshal Asim Munir at GHQ to discuss bilateral security cooperation.

During the proceedings, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended a warm welcome to the Malaysian delegation. He conveyed his sincere well-wishes to the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, and expressed hopes for his swift recovery from ongoing health concerns.

Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

The Prime Minister underscored Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to deepening fraternal ties with Malaysia. He emphasized that the partnership should be expanded across multiple domains, specifically noting security, law enforcement, trade, and economic investment as primary pillars for future growth. Both leaders also engaged in a comprehensive review of the regional situation. In this context, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formally expressed his appreciation for Malaysia’s consistent support regarding Pakistan’s initiatives for regional peace and stability.

Formal Agreements and Representation

In a significant move to formalize cooperation in the justice sector, the Prime Minister witnessed the signing of the ‘Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons’ between the two nations. This agreement was signed by the Malaysian Home Minister and Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi. The meeting was attended by key government figures, including Deputy Prime Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Tariq Fatemi, alongside other senior officials.

The Malaysian Home Minister reciprocated the sentiment by conveying the official greetings of Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, reiterating Kuala Lumpur’s keen desire to solidify its robust relationship with Islamabad.
