Prime Minister’s Awards 2026: Two Virtual University Students Among Pakistan’s Top 10

Islamabad: Two students of the Virtual University of Pakistan have been selected among the 10 outstanding individuals from across the country for the Prime Minister’s Awards 2026. The recognition highlights not only their personal struggles and achievements but also the growing reach and impact of online education in Pakistan.

Uzair Wasif, a graduate of the BS Computer Science programme, and Meera Nai Mehsud, a BBA student, have earned national recognition through their remarkable journeys and achievements. Meera Nai Mehsud’s journey from Waziristan to becoming a successful entrepreneur is particularly noteworthy, while Uzair Wasif has used his education in computer science to establish a technology company operating at the international level.

The achievement of both students also highlights the effectiveness of the Virtual University of Pakistan’s educational model. According to the university, it has more than 200,000 active students, while learners in 52 countries are benefiting from its educational system. Its online education model enables students to pursue higher education without geographical distance becoming a barrier.

Congratulating the students on their achievement, Rector of the Virtual University of Pakistan, Professor Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti (S.I., T.I.), said the selection of two university students for the Prime Minister’s Awards was a matter of pride for the institution and reflected its commitment to making quality higher education accessible to all, regardless of geographical boundaries.

He said the success of students was the true measure of the university’s mission. When students from remote and underserved areas pursue higher education and earn recognition at the national level, it serves as practical evidence of the transformative power of education.
