PTI Founder Returned to Adiala Jail After Medical Examination: Atta Tarar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that, in compliance with the Supreme Court’s decision, the PTI founder was taken to PIMS Hospital during the night between August 20 and 21, 2026, under appropriate security arrangements for a medical examination. According to Attaullah Tarar, a team of qualified doctors, including an ophthalmologist, cardiologist and physician, conducted a detailed medical examination. Doctors from Al-Shifa Hospital were also present during the examination.

The medical team declared the PTI founder medically fit, the minister said.

Tarar said that in view of the security situation created by PTI workers on the route to and outside Al-Shifa Hospital, the PTI founder was taken to PIMS Hospital instead.

He said that his sister, Uzma Khan, remained present throughout the medical examination and treatment process.

After completion of the medical examination, the PTI founder was shifted back to Adiala Jail at around 5:00 a.m. on August 21, the minister said.

Tarar added that medical facilities had previously been provided to the PTI founder and would continue to be made available whenever required.
