Punjab Expands Juvenile Driving Permit Service to e-Khidmat Centers

LAHORE: The Punjab government has expanded access to its Juvenile Driving Permit service by making the facility available at e-Khidmat Markaz centers across the province, allowing eligible teenagers aged 16 to 18 to apply through a centralized government platform.

The move is aimed at simplifying the application process for young riders, who can now submit their applications at e-Khidmat Markaz centers rather than visiting separate licensing offices.

Applicants are required to present a valid NADRA B-Form or Smart Card and submit written consent from a parent or legal guardian. The permit is available to eligible individuals between the ages of 16 and 18 and remains subject to applicable traffic and licensing regulations.

Punjab Traffic Police had earlier introduced the Juvenile Driving Permit system for teenagers in this age group. The initiative was designed to bring young motorcycle and scooter riders into the formal licensing framework and promote compliance with road-safety regulations.

Under the prescribed procedure, applicants are required to demonstrate basic knowledge of traffic signs and road-safety rules and complete the relevant driving assessment before being issued a permit.

The annual fee for the Juvenile Driving Permit has previously been set at Rs500. Parental or guardian consent is also a mandatory requirement, formally involving families in the process of allowing teenagers to ride.

The initiative is intended to address the issue of young riders operating motorcycles without proper documentation or sufficient knowledge of traffic regulations. By bringing them into the formal permit system, authorities aim to improve road-safety awareness and encourage responsible riding.

Juvenile permit holders are required to comply with traffic laws, including helmet requirements, speed limits and traffic signals. The permit does not grant unrestricted driving privileges and remains subject to the conditions prescribed under Punjab’s traffic regulations.

The availability of the service at e-Khidmat Markaz is expected to make the permit process more accessible to applicants across Punjab. The provincial government’s e-Khidmat platform already offers a range of public services, including various driving licence-related facilities.

The latest development, reported by ProPakistani on July 31, 2026, represents an expansion of access to the Juvenile Driving Permit service rather than the initial introduction of the permit system, which had been announced earlier this year.
