Punjab Government Executes Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle Across Key Provincial Departments

LAHORE (special crosspondent) – The Government of Punjab has announced a major reshuffle in the provincial bureaucracy, issuing a formal notification for the appointment and transfer of several senior officers to key administrative positions. This strategic overhaul comes as the provincial leadership aims to streamline governance and enhance the efficiency of essential public service departments.
Details of Bureaucratic Appointments
According to the official notification, Iftikhar Ali Sehu has been appointed as Additional Chief Secretary Punjab, a role central to the oversight of provincial administration. Furthermore, Muhammad Umar Masood has been designated as Secretary Agriculture Punjab, a critical portfolio tasked with managing the province’s agricultural productivity and policy frameworks. This follows ongoing discussions regarding the importance of institutional stability and policy continuity for Pakistan’s sustainable development goals within the broader administrative architecture.
Additional Administrative Assignments
The provincial government has also appointed Zaid Bin Maqsood as Secretary Industries, Commerce and Investment, signaling a push to revitalize the industrial sector. Additionally, Muhammad Jahanzeb has been named Secretary Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD). In addition to his new assignment, he has been granted the additional charge of Secretary Information and Culture (I&C), centralizing the management of information dissemination and cultural affairs. Meanwhile, Syed Muhammad Masood Nauman has been appointed as Secretary for the Archives and Libraries Wing.
These changes reflect the government’s ongoing effort to optimize the performance of the civil service. Similar efforts have been observed elsewhere, including instances where the Rawalpindi Development Authority issues show cause notices to illegal schemes, highlighting a broader trend of administrative accountability across the province.
