Shaza Fatima, British High Commissioner Discuss Emergency Warning System
ISLAMABAD, Aug. 5: Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja on Wednesday held a meeting with British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott to discuss the development of a Telecom Emergency Early Warning System and Cell Broadcast services in Pakistan.
According to an official news release, the two sides held detailed discussions on strengthening Pakistan’s emergency communication capabilities through modern early warning technologies aimed at improving public safety and disaster response.
The United Kingdom reaffirmed its commitment to providing technical assistance to Pakistan for the development of the country’s Emergency Warning Policy and the implementation of the related technological framework.
During the meeting, Shaza Fatima directed the relevant authorities to finalize the Emergency Warning Policy and submit it for final review by August 12, 2026, to accelerate the implementation of the proposed system.
