*ISLAMABAD, Aug. 5:* The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has facilitated the resolution of long-standing issues surrounding the Barite-Lead-Zinc (BLZ) Project in Khuzdar, paving the way for a strategic investment of approximately USD 200 million and reinforcing Pakistan’s efforts to develop its mineral sector.
The project, which has remained on SIFC’s agenda since December 2023, is being developed by Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) in partnership with Bolan Mining Enterprises (BME). PPL is serving as the project operator with a 50 percent working interest.
Located in the mineral-rich district of Khuzdar, Balochistan, the BLZ Project is considered one of Pakistan’s most significant mining ventures, with estimated reserves of 69 million tons and an expected operational life of 34 years.
According to official details, the project is projected to generate annual revenues ranging between USD 150 million and USD 230 million, while boosting mineral exports, creating employment opportunities, and contributing to the economic development of Balochistan.
SIFC played a key role in resolving long-pending lease-related issues that had delayed the project. A major breakthrough was achieved with the signing of the Operational Agreement during the Pakistan Mineral Forum 2025, officially marking the start of the implementation phase.
The successful progress of the project reflects the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to promoting an investor-friendly environment by removing regulatory bottlenecks, facilitating strategic investments, and accelerating the responsible development of the country’s vast mineral resources.
Officials said the achievement highlights SIFC’s growing role in unlocking Pakistan’s untapped mining potential, strengthening investor confidence, and supporting sustainable economic growth through high-impact investments in the mineral sector.
