KARACHI, Jul 31: A high-level United States business delegation concluded a two-day visit to Karachi, facilitated by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), to explore investment opportunities and strengthen economic cooperation between Pakistan and the United States through engagements with the Sindh government, public institutions and the private sector.
The delegation met Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and provincial ministers to discuss investment prospects in the Bin Qasim Industrial Park (BQIP), Karachi Industrial Park (KIP), Keti Bandar Port, NED Tech Park and the proposed Sindh International Financial Centre. Officials also briefed the delegation on the Sindh Business One Stop Shop (S-BOSS), the province’s digital one-window investment facilitation platform. The Chief Minister reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to supporting foreign investors through public-private partnerships and directed relevant departments to maintain close coordination with potential investors.
Led by SIFC, the delegation visited the Bin Qasim Industrial Park and Karachi Industrial Park at Port Qasim, where the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) presented details of industrial infrastructure, manufacturing capacity, investment incentives and export-oriented opportunities. The delegation also toured the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and received briefings on port modernization, logistics, fisheries, seafood processing and shipyard development before visiting Hutchison Ports Pakistan to observe modern cargo handling operations and maritime infrastructure.
During the visit, the delegation met Sindh Governor Syed Nihal Hashmi, who highlighted the province’s improving investment climate, assured full support to American investors and appreciated SIFC’s role in attracting international investment and strengthening Pakistan’s engagement with global businesses.
As part of its private-sector engagements, the delegation held discussions with the Pakistan Business Council (PBC), where senior business leaders, including representatives from the Pakistan Stock Exchange, Pakistan Agricultural Coalition, NRL Mining, Hilton Pharma and Unilever Pakistan, highlighted investment opportunities in capital markets, agribusiness, textiles, energy, mining, healthcare and consumer goods. Participants also acknowledged SIFC’s efforts to improve investor confidence, policy continuity and the ease of doing business in Pakistan.
The delegation also met the American Business Council (ABC), whose leadership briefed members on Pakistan’s evolving investment landscape, the longstanding presence of U.S. companies in the country and the Council’s collaboration with the Government of Pakistan, SIFC, the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the U.S. Embassy. The discussion also covered initiatives promoting healthcare and women’s well-being.
The Karachi programme provided the visiting delegation with firsthand exposure to Sindh’s industrial, maritime and commercial potential. Officials said the visit reinforced Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating international investment and marked another step towards expanding Pakistan–U.S. trade and investment cooperation through the support of SIFC.
