Zelensky congratulates Saudi crown prince on Makkah defense agreement

RIYADH, August 11: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has congratulated Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman on the recent signing of the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement between Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan.

According to Arab News, Zelensky expressed hope that the agreement would contribute to strengthening security and stability in the region.

He made the remarks during a telephone conversation with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Monday, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The two leaders also discussed regional and international developments and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.

The Makkah Joint Defense Agreement, signed last week by Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan, is aimed at strengthening defense cooperation among the three countries and enhancing regional security and stability.

Zelensky’s comments came as Saudi Arabia continues to engage with regional and international partners on security and diplomatic developments.
