RAWALPINDI: The 277th Corps Commanders’ Conference has resolved that any attempt to cause agitation or create a situation similar to May 9, regardless of the pretext, will be dealt with through decisive force and the rule of law, without hesitation or discrimination.

The conference was presided over by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, on October 2, 2026.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the forum offered Fateha for the Shuhada of the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies and civil society who laid down their lives for the motherland and paid rich tribute to their supreme sacrifices.

The forum reviewed the prevailing security environment and resolved to maintain a high state of readiness. It affirmed Pakistan’s right to self-defence and targeted action against terrorism emanating from Afghanistan.

The participants stated that the Taliban leadership bears responsibility for the consequences of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan, alleging that it was facilitating terrorism on behalf of India.

The forum appreciated the sustained and successful intelligence-based counter-terrorism operations conducted by law enforcement agencies. It stressed that kinetic efforts must be complemented by non-kinetic measures, including people-centric governance at the grassroots level, strategic engagement with the public, dismantling the terror-crime nexus operating under the patronage of vested interests, and strengthening police capacity.

The measures, according to the forum, should be pursued in line with the National Action Plan and Vision Azm-e-Istehkam.

The Corps Commanders’ Conference underscored the importance of internal stability and reiterated that any attempt to create agitation or a May 9-like situation would be dealt with decisively under the law.

The forum also welcomed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, noting its contribution to longstanding strategic and collective defence ties.

The participants strongly condemned the Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, expressed solidarity with the Kingdom and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the security and sanctity of the Haramain Sharifain.

The conference also reiterated Pakistan’s principled position on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and support for resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

In his concluding remarks, COAS & CDF Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir commended the formations for their operational preparedness and professionalism. He directed commanders to continue strengthening intelligence-based operations and enhance combat capabilities through the absorption of modern technology, training and multi-domain integration.

The Army Chief expressed confidence that the Armed Forces of Pakistan, with the unwavering support of the nation, remain fully prepared to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security.
