Government Adjusts Fuel Prices With Petrol Cut and Diesel Hike

ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – The government on Monday announced a revision in the prices of petroleum products under the established daily pricing mechanism. The adjustment reflects a reduction in the price of petrol alongside a notable increase in the rate of High-Speed Diesel (HSD), with the new rates taking effect from July 28, 2026.

Revised Pricing Structure

According to an official notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the price of Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol, has been reduced by Rs.1 per litre. Consequently, the price has been adjusted from Rs335.18 to Rs334.18 per litre. This downward adjustment arrives as the Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb chairs ECC to approve export incentives aimed at balancing the broader economic landscape.

High-Speed Diesel Price Hike

In contrast to the relief provided for petrol consumers, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has witnessed an upward revision. The Ministry confirmed an increase of Rs3.37 per litre. Following this adjustment, the price for HSD has moved from Rs383.46 to Rs386.83 per litre. These fiscal policy adjustments are frequently monitored as stakeholders observe how Attaullah Tarar blames 2019 policies for media industry financial crisis, highlighting the ongoing discourse regarding historical economic management and current regulatory measures.
