Federal Government Approves Rangers Deployment in Islamabad, Punjab Districts

Islamabad: The federal government has approved the deployment of Pakistan Rangers in Islamabad and various districts of Punjab to assist law-enforcement agencies in maintaining law and order and dealing with potential security threats.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the approval was granted following requests from the Chief Commissioner Islamabad and the Punjab government, authorizing the Rangers to provide assistance under the relevant legal framework.

The ministry said the deployment of Rangers has been carried out under Sections 7(b) and 10 of the Pakistan Rangers Ordinance, 1959, and Sections 4 and 5 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.

The notification directs the Rangers and police to take all appropriate and necessary action, in accordance with the law, in self-defence and to deal with attacks or violent actions by disruptive or armed groups.

The Ministry of Interior has instructed the Rangers and police to take comprehensive measures to address any violent activity, security threat or situation that could endanger public order.

According to the ministry, the deployed Rangers personnel will perform all necessary duties related to maintaining law and order and providing security assistance in coordination with the relevant law-enforcement authorities.
