ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Federal Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada presided over the 50th Executive Board Meeting of the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) today, where he expressed grave concern regarding the protracted delays affecting the Green Enclave-I and Lifestyle Residency projects. The Minister directed the Authority to implement immediate, effective measures to resolve the outstanding issues hindering project completion.

Opening the proceedings, Minister Pirzada questioned FGEHA leadership regarding the stagnant progress of these developments. He noted that he has been repeatedly compelled to provide explanations before Parliamentary and Senate committees, as well as various oversight forums, regarding the lack of development. He emphasized that after three years of inactivity, the current state of the projects is unacceptable.

Addressing the broader implications of these delays, the Minister took note of ongoing protests by allottees of Green Enclave-I and their recent engagement with the Federal Ombudsman. Similar to issues observed in various sectors, such as the operational improvements seen in utility management, the Minister insisted that the Authority must demonstrate transparency, accountability, and efficiency to regain public trust. He highlighted that the grievances of allottees must not be ignored.

The Federal Minister further directed that all pending inquiry reports be submitted within strict timelines, urging immediate follow-up on the findings. He observed that delays in concluding these inquiries exacerbate uncertainty for both senior bureaucrats and lower-grade employees, many of whom invested their life savings with the anticipation of securing homes. Similar to the challenges faced during industrial sector regulatory reviews, the Minister asserted that a fair and justified resolution is essential for the affected stakeholders.

Furthermore, the Minister instructed the FGEHA Board to ensure all subsequent actions strictly follow the recommendations of the inquiry reports, maintaining total transparency throughout the process. Concluding the agenda, the FGEHA Executive Board reviewed and formally approved the Authority’s annual budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
