ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with his Kazakh counterpart, Yermek Kosherbayev, on Saturday to discuss intensifying bilateral cooperation. The discussions focused on enhancing engagement in trade, investment, transport, and regional connectivity, alongside energy and people-to-people exchanges.

Strengthening Strategic Bilateral Cooperation

The high-level meeting took place on the sidelines of the SCO CFM gathering held in Kyrgyzstan, as confirmed by the Foreign Office spokesperson. During the dialogue, the two leaders reviewed the positive momentum in Pakistan-Kazakhstan relations, which has gained significant traction following the state visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Pakistan earlier this year. Both sides reaffirmed their firm commitment to implementing the comprehensive understandings reached, which includes the successful execution of 37 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the presidential visit.

This diplomatic push aligns with broader efforts to enhance education and regional research partnerships, as seen in recent initiatives like Wajiha Qamar Seeks Deeper Academic Cooperation with Kazakhstan University. The ministers engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views regarding regional and global developments, reiterating their shared commitment to regional stability and economic prosperity.
