The decision follows widespread concerns regarding the legal and constitutional status of the region. As the government continues its focus on national development projects, legal professionals in the province have signaled their intent to resist fiscal policies they deem inconsistent with the historical protections afforded to the Malakand Division.

KP Bar Council Declares Strike Over Federal Tax Imposition

According to an official press release issued by the council, the organization’s general body unanimously approved a resolution tabled by members Faisal Yousafzai Advocate, Fawad Ahmed Khan Advocate, Inayatullah Khan Advocate, Ikram Hussain Advocate, and Syed Hakim Khan Advocate. The resolution characterizes the federal government’s move as a violation of the region’s established constitutional and legal framework. Nawaz Khan Adil, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the KP Bar Council, confirmed that all district and tehsil bar associations across the division will observe a complete strike on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

Total Boycott of Court Proceedings Expected

The protest is designed to align with the broader movement initiated by local trade unions, civil society organizations, and the general public of Malakand. Lawyers have pledged to boycott all court proceedings on the day of the protest, refusing to appear before the bench in a show of unified resistance.
