ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) hosted a formal signing ceremony today for two Letters of Understanding (LoUs) aimed at bolstering nutrition awareness and healthy lifestyle habits among school-aged children. The agreements, established between Nestlé Pakistan and the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) as well as the Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE), mark a strategic expansion of public-private cooperation in the education sector. These initiatives are often discussed alongside broader government reform efforts to improve public services.

Program Scope and Objectives

Under the “Nestlé for Healthier Kids” initiative, the newly signed partnerships are designed to promote nutrition education, healthy eating habits, consistent hydration, hygiene practices, physical activity, and responsible waste management. The collaboration with the FDE is structured to provide training to approximately 300 teachers, ultimately benefiting an estimated 10,000 students across various federal government schools.

Special Education Focus

The secondary partnership with the DGSE focuses on inclusive education, targeting the training of up to 200 faculty members, therapists, and various multidisciplinary professionals. This project aims to impact approximately 2,000 children with special needs through the development of specialized inclusive learning materials and the establishment of dedicated resource rooms within educational facilities.

Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Mr. Nadeem Mahbub, presided over the ceremony and commended the initiative. He emphasized that such public-private partnerships remain vital for improving children’s overall health, long-term well-being, and academic learning outcomes. Mr. Sheikh Waqar Ahmad, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Nestlé Pakistan, noted that the collaboration reflects a mutual commitment to societal health.
